Welcome to Atalaya Elementary School!

Atalaya is a mid-sized elementary school nestled in the foothills of the East Mountains with a small “friendly family” feel. The Team of teachers provides a strong academic foundation based on the belief of the growth mindset designed to instill the love of learning in each and every student. We believe in educating the whole child, and therefore offers a balanced curriculum of Math, Language Arts, Inquiry Science, and Social Studies. Each classroom's experience includes various grade level traditions such as participation in El Otro Lado, National Dance Institute (NDI), Talking Hands Talking Feet and other theatrical/movement programs. Atalaya has strong partnerships with our local neighbors at Santa Fe Prep and St. John’s College that provide support for our students through tutoring, chess and mentorships. We offers an after-school program to support family’s needs named Atalaya Aftercare. Atalaya After Care offers a variety of enrichment activities and homework support. Students can also take part in girls and boys basketball teams and the Santa Fe Youth Symphony programs.

Atalaya has a very strong and active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) that sponsors many enriching opportunities for our families. The annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day offers one of the largest 5K runs in Northern New Mexico. PTA also host the Back to School Barbecue, Fall Festival, Spring and Fall Book Fairs and family dinners out. The PTA's goal is to support all students and families here at Atalaya through sponsoring grade level traditions, supporting school wide teacher professional development and offering teacher stipends to support classroom needs. The PTA also helps our parent volunteers support a safer environment on the playground at lunch and smaller learning groups during Response to Intervention in the classrooms.

Peachjar Flyer Distribution

Our district wants families to know about valuable programs and resources in the community. To facilitate delivery of this information, approved community organizations can send their flyers home to families digitally through Peachjar.

To request flyer approval, follow the steps below. Paper flyers from outside organizations will no longer be distributed.

● Visit www.peachjar.com
● Register as a Program Provider (account type)
● Upload your flyer for approval

Your flyer will be automatically submitted to the district office for approval. Once approved, your flyer will be emailed to parents and posted on each school’s web flyerboard for your selected duration of time. Peachjar charges a fee for this service that is typically much less than the cost to copy and deliver paper flyers to each school.
