Costumes can be worn to school on Fall Festival Day (10/31). However, no masks, blood or weapons are allowed.

From the Desk of Martha:  New Incentives for Attendance Program

Please remind your students how much we Love seeing them at school each day and now they can be rewarded for doing so through our new incentives program! (Fliers were sent home last week)

We understand that life happens and sometimes they can not be here, but we do miss them when they are not!

                                      Good Luck Everyone!!

Attendance-Vincente Avila-Miramontes:

New Mexico’s law is the Attendance for Success Act. Passed in 2019, it accounts for “chronic absenteeism” rates, which is both excused and unexcused absences. The law aims to decrease out-of-seat time and increase communication with students and families.

Counselor’s Corner-Noranik Zadeyan:

  1. We are 3/4 of our way through the Anti-Bullying Unit where all students are learning the 3 R’s: Recognize, Report and Refuse. We are practicing how to use our strong and respectful voices to report to trusted adults, refuse bullying as an upstander and stop the bullying for everyone to be safe and feel they belong! Ask your kids to show you their assertiveness skills…

  2. The 5th and 6th graders have a cyberbullying part of their lessons and I wanted to provide all parents with a helpful resource with regards to tech use and our children’s well-being. Surgeon General’s Social Media and Youth Mental Health

Another important community resource is the 988 Suicide and Crisisline.

NM Crisis Line/Mobile Unit

  4. Quote/Tip:  Think before you Say or Do: Is it helpful? Is it necessary? Is it kind?

Nurse’s News-Shona Stack,RN and Lizz Valencia,NA

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) has announced the start of the 2024-2025 influenza (flu) season, with an elevated number of positive influenza tests in the Northwest region of the state. It’s not too late to get vaccinated! You can find available clinics on the The NM Department of Health “ Don’t Wait, Vaccinate” website.

Let’s have a safe and happy Halloween! Please see these Halloween Health and Safety Tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics. As a reminder: students should not bring Halloween candy to school. Please remind your kids to leave it at home, and not to share candy during the school day. Thank you for your help!
