Attendance-Vicente Avila-Miramontes:
Keep going! Attendance directly influences whether or not children can read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. By 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school. We all want our students to succeed! Together, let’s make attendance a priority.

SEASONAL ALLERGIES - YUCK!
Allergy season is here. Listed below are several ways you can help your child reduce some of their symptoms. Note: We do not give allergy medication to students. If your child needs medication at school, parents should speak to the nurse directly at 505-467-4405. Please do not send medications to school with your child (including medicated cough drops).
Have your child wash his/her face frequently with water, after first washing their hands with soap and water.
Normal saline eye drops may be used to further cleanse the eyes.
Normal saline nasal spray can be used during the day to hydrate and cleanse the nose.
Make an appointment with your child’s health care provider for moderate to severe symptoms. A prescription medication may be needed. Or talk to your provider about an over-the-counter medication for allergies, like children’s Claritin.
After school, have your child shower and shampoo and put on clean clothes.
After playing outside, have the child wash hands, face, and cleanse eyes with normal saline drops. You can also wipe the hair with a moist washcloth to get rid of pollen.
